A Bit About Me
Cheryl Alexander attended Southwest Texas State University (now known as Texas State University) in San Marcos, Texas, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master's Degree in School Psychology, with a minor in Special Education. Cheryl has worked 13 years in Law Enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff/Correctional Officer, Prison Guard, Adult Probation Officer, and a Texas Youth Commission Parole Officer. She also has over 24 years of experience in education, 16 of which as a school counselor.

Mrs. Alexander has training and skills in identifying solutions to personal, social, and psychological problems. As a Counselor, she performs therapies that offer support and guidance to individuals or groups in order to accomplish mental health, wellness, education, and career goals. Counseling is a series of confidential, one-on-one, or group meetings designed to help my clients solve issues affecting their mental health and well-being. Significant diseases and conditions treated by Counselors include addiction, trauma, grief, depression, eating disorders, anger management, career choice, abuse, phobias, chronic pain, and relationship problems. Medical tests, procedures, and therapies provided by Counselors include child, individual, group, couples, mental health, rehabilitation, school, and marriage and family counseling.

Her personal and social goals in counseling are to help people make safe and healthy choices, develop healthy marriages, gain self-awareness and understanding, develop resilience to cope with problems, develop positive attitudes, respect others, take personal responsibility, resolve conflicts peacefully, and make effective decisions.

Cheryl is a provider trained and educated in the performance of Behavioral Health Services through interpersonal communications and analysis. (Training and education at the specialty level usually require a Master's Degree, clinical experience, and supervision for licensure or certification.)
